Jeff and Mary's online relationship

Here is the story of an online relationship that stood the test of time.

Jack and his wife Millie had lived in New York their whole lives. Millie was a nurse and Jack was a security guard. They had 3 adult children who all lived in New York, much to their parents delight.

Across town lived a middle-aged couple called Fred and Nancy. They were never able to have children so they had 5 jack russell dogs instead. Fred was a cab driver and Nancy was a nurse.

Nancy and Millie both worked at the same hospital. Both couples would meet once a month for dinner at their favorite Italian restaurant. They had all become great friends over the years.

Tragedy and broken trust

As Millie was coming out of the subway one day on her way to work she was the victim of a horrible and fatal accident. A motorist had lost control of his motor vehicle in the icy conditions and mounted the curb hitting and killing MIllie instantly.

Extraordinarily, on that very same day, Nancy returned home, grief stricken by the death of her close friend, to find a note from her husband Fred announcing that he had been having an online relationship with a Russian lady, 20 years his junior for the last 6 months. This secret online relationship was apparently love and he wanted to marry her!

Recovery

Jack, after mourning the death of his wife Millie for over a year, decided to buy a computer. He was lonely and wanted to form an online relationship with someone. It took him a while to get the hang of how to use his new laptop but eventually he cracked it.

Nancy in the meantime had tried to date but hadn't had much luck so she decided to try meeting someone online. She decided to try meeting someone online. She posted a description of herself on an internet site. Wary and a little embarrassed of what she was doing, she decided to use a fake name and not post a picture of herself.

She got several replies and kept in contact with one gentleman in particular named Jeff. Jeff and her seemed to have a lot in common. They shared the same interests and both loved Italian food. After conducting their online relationship for a few months they decided to meet in person.

The date

Both Jeff and Nancy were nervous but excited. They decided to meet at a favorite Italian restaurant. It was a huge coincidence that they had both frequented this particular restaurant and loved the food.

When Nancy walked into the restaurant she couldn't believe who was sitting at the bar, it was her old friend Jack whom she hadn't seen for ages. They both looked surprised and a little uncomfortable but of course happy to see one another. They greeted each other and started to chat. After several minutes Jack asked Nancy, who kept looking around the restaurant nervously, who she was meeting. Nancy felt her face go red and said that she had arranged to meet a friend that she had made online called Jeff. Jack's mouth dropped open and then a huge grin spread across his face, he said: "Well my dear, I'll let you into a little secret, my internet name is Jeff, I'm assuming your internet name is Mary?"
